The auspicious ear lobe piercing, known as Karnh Sanskar, is an important ceremony in many Hindu traditions.
While is no consensus on the ideal age for a Hindu girl’s ear piercing,
it typically occurs around the 6th or 7th month, or during the 3rd, 5th, or 7th year after birth.
Auspicious days and times are selected for the ceremony,
as outlined in scriptures like Dharma Sindhu and Karna Vedha Sanksar,
which suggest performing it on the 10th, 12th, or 16th day after birth.
At Baby Ear Piercing, our experienced professionals begin ear piercing services for infants at 2 months old,
often scheduling procedures during the 6th or 7th month.
The ritual is then performed on odd years3rd or 5th—after birth,
with the first ear pierced for girls typically being the left ear, and for boys, the right.
This tradition is upheld across Hindu communities. While there are beliefs regarding the benefits of ear piercing, no medical claims can be made. It is thought that wearing earrings and ear piercing helps maintain
the positively charged energy flow, especially during youth, which we refer to as The Spark of Youth.
